My Backpacking Experience

For seven months, I travelled round the world, stopping at eight countries in total. It was an incredible experience that taught me a lot - but I also feel that I had a very different experience to a lot of people who decide to go travelling.

I was in a unique position - I had finished my studies, I had been working full time in Central London for almost three years, I had moved out of my parents home and had a nice little life for myself - and also a nice little life to come back to.

My journey was taken for reasons other than to "find myself" - it was actually because I felt so in-experienced - why did I have this lovely little life, but still feel 10 steps behind everyone else? It's a bit morbid, but I sometimes found myself thinking, if I died tomorrow - what would be my accomplishments? And to be honest, I really felt like it wasn't anything at all.

So I packed one 16kg bag, and one too many pairs of shoes, and left in December 2016, not to return until the following summer - and what a journey it was.

Over the next few weeks, I'm going to share with you a number of crazy experiences, in a number of amazing countries, and I hope you enjoy learning about my lovely little journey.

Latest Beauty Tries

I'm always on the lookout to try new beauty bits - I have my favourites but I'm not naive enough to think that my current favourites are always going to be the best, so I think it's important to switch it up!

I don't often wear lipsticks, and when I do I usually stick to something very neutral. I went for these two brighter shades because I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks, which I think is the perfect opportunity to switch it up and try something a little more fun. I like these even without the tan at the moment, but I'm dying to see how they'll look in a month!

I struggle a lot with primers as I naturally have very oily skin, and a lot of primers for me add moisture which I don't need. I got super excited when I saw this as the description literally reads 'intensely mattifying formula' - how can a girl not get excited!? I've only been using this for a couple of days but so far so good, it really does seem to work!

I've been using the same MAC eyebrow pen for years now, and as much as I love it, as £15 a pop I can't always be splurging on something so expensive, so this time I headed for the Archery pencil. I love it. It's so light, so you almost can't notice anything at first, but once you've built that up it means you're left with a really nice, natural looking brow that barely looks like you've added make-up. The brush on the end is really beneficial, it's definitely something I would recommend!

I'm sadly really disappointed by this product - I wouldn't normally go for a pen but I thought the thick pen-like feature would really make it quick and easy to do my daily cat-eye flick, but it's such hard work! It's too thick and half the time it looks as if a child has done my make-up! They do a super thin version, so I'm going to pick that up next time as it definitely looks more suited to my style.

Okay, so I have a confession to make, this isn't actually a new try, it's an old favourite of mine! I picked something different up since the last time I used this, but haven't found anything I like quite as much as this one. The comb makes eyelashes really defined and evenly coated, and it's super easy to build up making lashed look longer and more voluminous - plus its cheap as chips!

New Home Accessories

After moving to a new home just before the new year, the most fun I've had is buying all the cute little bits to go with the furniture we brought with us (new home, new decorations - that's the rule).

These three gorgeous bits were all bought from Tiger - one of my new favourite places to go. I've re-named it 'the shop of stuff', because it's full of just about everything you never thought you needed but you always wanted, and it's all so cheap.

I've also bought a cute little burner, which I adore because not only does it fill the room with gorgeous scents, but it's just so cute! This particular one I came across whilst in Holland & Barrett for the small price of £5.95. I already had some little scent chips that were given to me as a gift, but you can buy a massive assortment of burners and scentchips from the website as well as in store, and they last hours longer than candles so I'd definitely recommend them!

Where's your favourite place to buy home accessories?
